Prayer

God . . . is hidden in the soul,

and there the good contemplative must seek Him with love . . .

What more do you want, O Soul!

And what else do you search for outside, when within yourself

you possess your riches, delights, satisfactions, fullness and kingdom - your Beloved, whom you desire and seek?

Be joyful and gladdened in your interior recollection with him,

for you have Him so close to you.

Desire Him there, adore Him there.

- St. John of the Cross -

. . . prayer, in my opinion,

is nothing else than an intimate sharing between friends;

 it means taking time frequently

to be alone with Him Who we know loves us.

- St. Teresa of Avila -

For me, prayer is an aspiration of the heart,

it is a simple glance directed to heaven,

it is a cry of gratitude and love

in the midst of trial as well as joy;

finally, it is something great, supernatural,

which expands my soul and unites me to Jesus.

- St. Therese of Lisieux -
